Lorraine Green BSc( Hons), MBACP
Lorraine Green is a psychotherapist with fifteen years experience in mental health settings. Lorraine trained as an integrative therapist and is accredited with the BACP. She started her career working with MIND, helping clients with a wide range of mental health issues from depression, anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, perfectionism, OCD, attachment issues, burn-out to clients managing a cancer diagnosis.
Lorraine has worked in various mental health settings including a charity which supports fire fighters. Here Lorraine gained extensive experience working with trauma. She utilises trauma focused CBT. She also gained further experience working with work related issues, such as bullying and stress.
Lorraine completed further training in Acceptance and Commitment therapy, a sub-set of CBT which not only looks at managing unhelpful thoughts, but also focuses greater self-awareness by understanding values, rather than becoming entangled with unhelpful thoughts.
Core therapeutic modalities utilised by Lorraine are CBT, ACT, Schema and aspects of psychodynamic therapy. Lorraine has also done further training in systemic therapy which focuses on interpersonal relationships particularly in a family setting.
Lorraine works collaboratively with each client and tailors her approach according to individual need. Lorraine is committed to helping clients deepen their psychological understanding of themselves, empowering them to recognise the patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be contributing to their challenges. Lorraine also provides clients with practical coping strategies and tools.
Before embarking on her career as a therapist, Lorraine spent many years working in the corporate sector, giving her a well-rounded understanding of the complexities, pressures and demands inherent to that environment.
Outside of work, Lorraine maintains balance by getting outdoors, keeping fit, travelling and enjoying music and art.
