Hayley Whitehorn

Hayley Whitehorn

Hayley Whitehorn is a Counselling Psychologist at Cognacity. Hayley is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has maintained good professional standing with the council throughout her career.

Hayley obtained her qualifications in Psychology in South Africa through Rhodes University and Nelson Mandela University and has an undergraduate degree and two postgraduate degrees. She have trained in a variety of settings including university services, addiction clinics, inpatient acute services, NHS inpatient and outpatient services, and private practice.

Hayley works collaboratively with each client to meet their specific needs and tailor her approach to be unique to their life challenges. To develop this uniqueness, Hayley tends to integrate different approaches drawing mainly from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Schema Therapy to create the most appropriate treatment plan.

Hayley offers both long- and short-term individual client work and works with individuals experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, bereavement, addiction, identity/gender adjustment and other adjustment disorders.

Hayley chose to become a psychologist in order to empower others, promote mental health as a priority and encourage the perspective that counselling is for everyone.

Hayley mainly work with adolescents and adults, from all backgrounds and walks of life, aiming to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming space where she can work together with the patient to build a healthier and happier life.
