Alice de Villiers

Alice de Villiers is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of professional experience working across several mental health and therapeutic settings, including those supporting patients in private and state inpatient and community services, and clients in her private practice work.

After completing her professional qualification and psychodynamic training focused on attachment and object relations theory in South Africa – Alice moved to the United Kingdom in 2010. Since then, she has broadened her expertise and experience to include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Imago Relationship theory, and mindfulness-based techniques.

Alice’s specialist interest in emotional resilience and the unique ways individuals view and respond to their personal experiences informs her ever-developing and evolving therapeutic approach. She believes in a compassionate and values-driven approach to therapy. Using a bio-psychosocial framework, Alice seeks to develop a ‘fitting’ narrative to detail a client’s individual challenges – and in doing so, inform decisions that foster growth and reduce both internal and interpersonal friction. Her integrative method combines practical techniques from multiple therapeutic models, tailored to each client’s unique needs, with the goal of promoting greater self-efficacy and long-term well-being.

Alice’s South African upbringing has resulted in an unadulterated love for sport and the outdoors – despite the potential conflicts created by touring sides and patriotic allegiance.
